Champagne Robert Thoumy

Champagne, France

From Chigny-les-Roses in the Montagne de Reims, Robert Thoumy crafts classical Premier Cru Champagnes defined by freshness, balance and clarity.

Champagne Robert Thoumy embodies a deep family tradition stretching back to the late 19th century in the Montagne de Reims. Formally founded in 1950 in the Premier Cru village of Chigny-les-Roses, the house remains dedicated to the heritage of its region. Today, the estate cultivates 5.5 hectares across the Premier Cru villages of Chigny-les-Roses and Ludes, employing respectful viticulture to allow the classic clay-limestone terroir to express its unique character through the grapes.

The most defining feature of the house is its remarkable hand-dug cellar, located ten meters beneath the surface. This cool, silent sanctuary provides the ideal conditions for slow maturation, allowing the Champagnes to age far beyond the minimum requirements to achieve maximum complexity. It is within these walls that the wines develop their signature depth, literally perfected in a space born of the winemaker’s own hand.

The resulting style is defined by a vinous texture and profound structure, beautifully showcasing the dominant Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier of the Montagne de Reims. These are rich, expressive Champagnes that often feature notes of sweet spices, brioche, and pastry, all while maintaining a distinct and vibrant freshness. Choosing Robert Thoumy is a commitment to a sincere and artisanal taste of the Montagne de Reims.
