Who we are
Terroir Wines was founded in 2025 by Tim Meijer and Marnix Bakker. After more than a decade of traveling and tasting across Europe’s diverse wine regions, we established our portfolio with a singular focus: importing wines with a clear sense of place and identity.
Our approach is built on the belief that the best wines are shaped by soil, climate, and the hands of those who farm the vineyards. We specialize in authentic discoveries from small, independent producers who work with precision and restraint. These are bottles that bring energy to the table and depth to a wine list, often from domaines rarely found elsewhere in the Netherlands.
We work directly from cellar to table. We do everything ourselves, from import documents to personal delivery. By building close, long-term relationships with our growers, we guarantee provenance and integrity. This direct line allows us to represent each domaine exclusively in the Dutch market, offering our partners access to distinctive wines and limited allocations that are shaping the future of their respective regions.
Our collection is deliberately personal and evolving. Each producer is selected because they add something meaningful, whether through deep-rooted tradition or a modern, original expression of their terroir. Our wines find their way to leading restaurants and places where the wine list is an essential part of the experience.

Tim interest in wine began at the table, where a first deliberate wine pairing revealed how a bottle can shape an entire meal. What started as curiosity developed into a serious passion, leading him to build a personal collection and deepen his understanding of regions, vintages and style. That same perspective now underpins Terroir Wines.
Marnix Bakker | Founder
For Marnix, an appreciation for cooking and honest ingredients were cultivated from an early age. He carries the firm belief that great food begins at the source, a philosophy that translates seamlessly to his approach to wine. He focuses on minimal intervention and organic viticulture, seeking out wines that remain true to their natural origins.
